The fate of Destiny Odoji for Tottenham Hotspur now looks more likely.

The Telegraph reported on Friday that Tottenham are close to a deal to sign the left-back for Udinese.

Then, Fabrizio Romano claimed on Twitter that the Tottenham duo Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici were big fans of the defender.

All signs point to moving to North London – and more now.

According to Di Marzio in Italy, Udogie has just been left out of the squad for the Italian club’s last friendly match of the summer.

That in itself is a major indicator of a move to Tottenham.

But the publication also added that the development is already linked to his possible transfer to the Premier League.

However, Di Marzio adds that the 19-year-old – who will cost around £16.8m up front – will be loaned back to Udinese for the duration of the 2022-23 campaign.

This is an interesting development as it could indicate that Tottenham could sign another left-back this summer, after Udogie.

That’s because Sergio Reguilon is expected to leave the Hotspur Way and if the teenager isn’t with Conte’s squad this season, he’s leaving the team a bit short.

Then again, it could reasonably suggest that Ivan Perisic is Reguilon’s short-term replacement at full-back, with the Croatia international joining Bosman earlier this summer.

However, Udogie to Spurs seems like a matter of time and it will be interesting to see if they intend to loan him out immediately.
