Earlier today, Liverpool gem Leighton Clarkson made his debut with Aberdeen FC, after signing with the Scottish side on a season-long loan deal.

Within just 45 minutes of the 20-year-old’s debut, he has already captured the hearts of fans.

What’s the story?

Well, Clarkson put up a 3-0 lead for Aberdeen against St Mirren at the end of the first half with a powerful shot from distance.

What a way to introduce yourself – Clarkson will remember that for a long time.

For those of you who take a good interest in Kirkby’s finest, his hit won’t surprise you.

Jurgen Klopp has already described the youngster as an exceptional talent, and claimed fans “couldn’t imagine” how amazing he really was after making his Champions League debut.

The German said: “It was a really good match for a boy in his age group. You can’t imagine how much better he showed at night.”

Jordan Henderson also sang Clarkson’s praises, after the midfielder admired him while training with the first team at the AXA Training Centre.

Speaking of Reese Williams and Clarkson, the Liverpool captain was quoted as saying: “I can tell from seeing them in training, they both took a lot of positives from their time away. They both seem to have matured from a different environment and face different kinds of challenges.”

Leighton Clarkson has a chance at Liverpool

No one can deny that Liverpool’s midfield options are rather weak at the moment.

Thiago suffered what Klopp described as a “bad hamstring” injury during the 2-2 draw with Fulham, while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain also struggled with a serious hamstring problem.

Therefore, if Clarkson continues to storm Scotland, Klopp may decide to include him in his options for the 2023/24 season.

He has already established himself as a manager who trusts young people, such as Trent Alexander-Arnold, Harvey Elliott, Curtis Jones and Fabio Carvalho.

On the basis of his shot against St Mirren, Clarkson could be the next possibility to shine at Anfield.
