Wesley Fofana has told Manchester City target Leicester City that he wants to join Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea in the summer transfer window, according to 90 Minutes.
Manchester City target Wesley Fofana wants Chelsea move
90 Minutes reported that Chelsea had rejected two offers by Leicester to buy Fofana.
The Blues are preparing to pay £70m for the French defender, but Premier League rivals Leicester are waiting £80m.
Fofana’s stance on a possible move to Chelsea would be a blow to Manchester City.
This is because the Premier League champions are also said to be keen to secure the services of the 21-year-old French defender this summer.
According to L’Equipe, City and Paris Saint-Germain, winners of the first division last season, are keen to sign Fofana.
Can the transfer happen?
In our view, Wesley Fofana is more likely to join Chelsea than Leicester City than Manchester City in the summer transfer window.
We’ve seen in Mark Cucurella’s situation that City simply won’t overpay a player.
If Leicester want £80m for Fofana, and Chelsea are determined to sign him, the Blues will likely pay it in the end.
Fofana has been in the Leicester books since 2020 and has made 35 Premier League appearances so far in his career.
