Jason Momoa is set to return to Aquaman 2 in 2023 so HITC takes a look at his rise to fame and the unexpected split with Lisa Bonet.
The actor recently confirmed that Ben Affleck will be donning his Batman suit to reprise his role in Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom, set for release in March 2023. Momoa and Affleck had an apparent friendship in the ad posted, which saw both actors smile from ear to ear.
Speaking of romance, his personal life is just as busy as his career, with links to Godzilla vs Kong actress Eiza González. Their romance began after his split from Lisa Bonet, his partner of 17 years.
From the Baywatch Guard to the King of the Dothraki
At the age of 20, Momoa landed his first television role on Baywatch: Hawaii as Jason Ewan. The party was perfect as he won the Hawaii Model of the Year competition in 1999 And the He worked in a surf shop. That’s not all: he had real experience as a lifeguard. What a match at Baywatch heaven.
Just 12 years later, he earned Hollywood recognition through a brief stint as Dothraki lord, Khal Drago, on the HBO Game Of Thrones phenomenon. Audiences fell in love with his transition from fearsome chieftain to loving husband Daenerys Targaryen in 2011.
Despite it being a great role, he found it difficult to get jobs after not many realized that he could speak English. His idealized depiction of Drogo and the language of the Dothraki was so compelling, he “made it resolute,” as he put it.
The actor’s superhero gig came in 2014 with a cameo as the Atlantis king, Aquaman, in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
As would be expected from superhero franchises, his career has since been secured thanks to future iterations, including 2017’s Justice League and Aquaman’s first installment. As long as the DC universe lives, Momoa is here to stay, unless he kills him or replaces the actor.

Bonet and Momoa’s romance began in 2005, although the Dune actor was keeping an eye on her after he spotted her on The Cosby Show as Denise Huxtable.
“Since I was eight and saw her on TV, I’ve been like, ‘Mom, I want this. ‘ He told James Corden in 2017: ‘I will chase you all my life and come back to you.’
He admitted that it sounded scary, so he didn’t tell her until after their two children.
They welcomed their daughter, Lola, in 2007. Son Nakoa-Wolf was born a year later, making Bonet a mother of three. Her eldest child is actress Zoe Kravitz, whom she shares with first husband Lenny Kravitz.
Their love was carried over to the big screen of Road To Paloma, where Bonet played his love interest. With two kids and busy work schedules, photographing together was a luxury.
Speaking to Collider, he said, “It’s definitely fun, working for your partner. It’s an honor. In this business, we have to travel away from our families.”
The pair split after 17 years of romance
The couple finally tied the knot in a simple 2017 ceremony at their home in Topanga, California. Among the guests were fellow Hollywood stars Alicia Vikander and Michael Fassbender.
Momoa and Bonnet then called for smoking cessation in January 2022 via a now-deleted joint statement on Instagram.
