A millionaire in his own right, Kembal Musk is a chef, restaurateur, philanthropist, and venture capitalist. He is also the younger brother of SpaceX and Tesla founder, Elon Musk.
The Musk family is once again in the news and all eyes are on Kimbal Musk, thanks to a recent interview with the head of the family, Errol, that went viral.
The New York Post reported that on Monday (August 1) Errol Musk called up Kyle and Jackie’s OR radio show on Australian radio station KIIS FM for a 20-minute conversation. In the conversation, he talked about Elon’s success and suggested that the billionaire businessman, 50, lose weight.
“Your offspring is a genius,” the presenter asked Jackie O, the 79-year-old South African.
“He’s worth a lot of money and he’s created so many things, you can’t take that from him. Are you proud?”
“No. You know, we’re a family that’s been doing a lot of things for a long time, it’s not like we’ve suddenly started doing something,” Errol replied. Errol then went on to describe his son Kimbal as his “pride and happiness”.
So, how successful is the smaller musk?
What is the net worth of Kimbal Musk?
Forbes values Kimbal Musk at $700 million, although his older brother holds the title of the world’s richest person with a net worth of $271.2 billion.
This massive number is largely due to Kimball’s 0.04% stake in Tesla. Plus stock options valued at approximately $170 million as of November 9, 2021.
According to Forbes, Kimbal also owns a $2 million stake in American fast food chain Chipotle. He likely owns shares in SpaceX, Elon Musk’s private spaceflight company, where he also serves as a board member.
Kimball, 49, also owns The Kitchen Restaurant Group, a group of restaurants located in Chicago, Colorado, and Indianapolis. The chef’s passion for food has inspired his nonprofit organization Big Green, founded in 2011. She has built “learning gardens” across the United States to educate children about where their food comes from. He is also the co-founder of Square Roots, an urban farming company.
From inside Kimbal Musk’s relationship with his brother
The Musk brothers, one a tech giant and the other an urban farmer, have a close relationship. Forbes wrote that in 1995, Kimball and Elon founded the software company Zip2. Later, Kimbal was an early investor in Elon’s upcoming company, X.com, which eventually became part of PayPal, according to CNBC.
Kimball once described their differences this way: “It’s kind of like let’s take the world to new frontiers and I’m about to take care of the ones we have.”
