The Sandman just dropped on Netflix but people are already surrounded by leading man Tom Sturridge.
It seemed that within minutes of the series hitting the streaming platform, people were taking to Twitter to express their newfound obsession with 36-year-old Tom, who plays Dream, aka Sandman, aka Morpheus… and some names The other he goes to by.
The 11-part series is inspired by the comic books of Neil Gaiman and follows the master of dreams after he escapes from prison at the hands of a human magician and his attempts to recover his lost equipment.

The Sandman stars Doctor Who’s Jenna Coleman as Johanna Constantine, Nip/Tuck’s Joely Richardson as Ethel Cripps, iconic actor and comedian Stephen Fry as Gilbert and Game of Thrones’ Gwendolyn Christie as Lucifer.
Gwendolyn’s casting sparked a lot of discussion, with people questioning why Tom Ellis wasn’t brought back to reprise his role as Demon.

Writer Neal responded to a fan on Twitter who asked why Tom wasn’t asked to play Lucifer.
He said, “Because Lucifer, while inspired by Lucifer in Sandman, is very far in terms of Sandman continuity by the end of LUCIFER, which makes it easy for everyone to go back to the version in the comics. That way you don’t know what Lucifer is going to do. Tom is lovable.”
