UPDATE ON THE OPENING OF THE GES PORTAL

On Tuesday, 23rd November, 2021, I had the opportunity to join some media personages to grant an interview with the Director General of Ghana Education Service, Prof. Akwesi Amankwaah after the launching of entenary celebrations of Wesley College of Education. Present was the former TTAG President, Hon. Appiah Augustine.

My question to him was to find out when the portal for the recruitment of the newly Qualified Teachers would be opened as financial clearance for recruitment had been issued.

When will GES Portal be opened?

The Director General affirmed that preparation towards the opening of the portal is far advanced and that in a week or two, the portal would be opened.

He opined that the clearance given by the Ministry of Finance is only for newly trained teachers who completed College of Education in 2020 and have finished their National service, passed all their courses in college and have also passed the Licensure Examination.

He further informed us that the Ghana Education Service exists to render services to Ghananains and therefore, NQTs should be ready to accept postings to where their services would be needed. Any NQT who would attach reasons not to go to where he or she will be posted will forfeit his or her recruitment, which will then be given to different persons who are more willing to serve the nation, he added.

He again added that GES has collaborated with World Bank to provide GALOP program for about ten thousand basics schools and that GES is anticipating to post some of the NQTs to some of the schools offering that particular programme.

Dear newly trained teachers, as we anticipate for the opening of the portal, the most important documents which one cannot do without include; NSS certificate, diploma certificate and NTC certificate.

It has also come to our attention that there has been a delay in the issuing of the soft copy of the NSS certificate to some NQTs. The delay resulted when the respective district, municipal or metropolitan NSS office failed to process the details of NSS and send them to the National Secretariat on time.

I will advise all NQTs suffering from such delays to report their cases to the local NASPA executives. I also urge representatives of NSS persons to engage the District or Municipal NSS Director on the issue in order not to find ourselves wanted when it is opened.

This too shall pass!!! Issued by:
