NTC Licensure Examination

NTC Licensure Examination is meant to ensure that teachers conform to a particular code of conduct. Licensing of teachers will also ensure discipline in the teaching field. In this post, we will be looking at

What is NTC License Exam?

NTC license Exam is for persons who have completed college of education or are studying education in various universities and colleges and want to work for the Ghana Education Service (GES). The exam is conducted in three different subject areas, namely; literacy, numeracy and Essential skills. The exam is conducted by NTC a body mandated by the government to access teachers in the field and those newly trained teachers.


Why NTC License Exams?

The purpose of the Licensing Examination is to;

  1. Allow qualified teachers to obtain a professional license.
  2. Attract outstanding young graduates from universities and colleges of education who possess the necessary professional knowledge, skills, and attitudes to deliver effectively in schools.

How is NTC License Exam Graded?

Applicants who sat and passed their license exams are given provisional license and a result slip. On this result slip, when a candidate passed all the three subjects he/she is graded PASS.

When you checked yours and you saw this on it, it means you had sealed through successfully.

Is NTC License Exam Free?

No, it is not free. You have to pay for all the three examination papers. For instance, in the year 2022/2023, re-sitting candidates must pay GH150.00 for one (1) re-sit paper, candidates who are retaking two (2) exams must pay GH210.00 each and candidates who are retaking all three (3) examinations must pay GH 350.00.

All candidates who have completed a Diploma in Basic Education (DBE), Bachelor of Education (B.Ed), or a Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE), M.Ed and wish to work as teachers.
All of the above candidates who graduated in 2021 or before 2022 are eligible to take the exam at a Regional Center of their choice.
Candidates who have attempted but failed the Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination, as well as new candidates, can register.

Who Qualify to Write NTC License Exam?

Not all candidates qualify to write NTC license Exam. Then who qualify? Below is the answer to the question;

  1. All candidates who have completed a Diploma in Basic Education (DBE), Bachelor of Education (B.Ed), or a Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE), M.Ed and wish to work as teachers.
  2. All of the above candidates who graduated and passed all their college or university examinations are eligible to take the exam at a designated center of their choice.
  3. Candidates who have attempted but failed the Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination, as well as new candidates, can register.
