According to Sky Sports, Wolves now want to sign Michy Batshuayi from Chelsea after Everton withdrew from talks.
What’s the story?
Well, it looked as if Frank Lampard was ready to meet the £33m man, who was working with him at Stamford Bridge.
However, Everton decided not to bring Batshuayi to Goodison Park, likely due to his £90,000-a-week wages.
However, the Belgium international has not put off Wolves, and Bruno Laage is now considering a move for the 28-year-old after Raul Jimenez’s injury.
Batshuayi scored 14 goals in 33 Premier League games for Besiktas last season during a season-long loan spell in Turkey, and is now entering the final 12 months of his contract with Chelsea.
Therefore, the Belgian is supposed to be available for a reduced fee, since he does not appear in Thomas Tuchel’s plans.
Sky Sports added that Wolves are also eyeing Bordeaux striker Ui-jo Hwang, who is among Lage’s options along with Batshuayi.
In 77 Premier League games, 30th Chelsea scored 15 goals, including the strike that won the Premier League title in 2017.
Wolves must sign Michy Batshuayi after Everton talks
In our view, Batshuayi did well at Molineux.
The Belgian is a pure striker, who – while not always running the channels and working hard – has great movement and a real attacking mind.
So, with creative players like Pedro Neto and Ruben Neves providing him opportunities, we imagine Batshuayi will score a good amount of goals for Wolves.
In our view, an initial loan deal—with a view to a permanent deal—would make more sense for the Wolves, just in case Batshuayi failed, and the old gold stuck with his salary in the books.
Keep an eye on this situation, as we can definitely see this deal happening.
