The Angel shot trend has been sweeping TikTok with creators making videos on the same thing, but what exactly is it and what is the meaning behind it?
TikTok trends sometimes make you learn new things that can help you in your time of need, and truth be told, it’s not a bad thing at all.
One such trend that is taking over the platform is the angel shot trend that gets people to design their own story.
He explained the meaning of the angel shot
First of all, no, it’s not a drink you can order at the bar. However, it is definitely a phrase that you can tell your waiter to help you out.
According to Budget Branders, an owner shot is something an individual can order in a bar or restaurant to let employees know that they feel unsafe. This allows employees to take action right away without drawing too much attention or putting you at risk.
How did you start?
The Angels shot is the product of the Ask for Angela campaign that started in Lincolnshire, UK. This was a campaign aimed at helping someone feel insecure and prevent sexual assault.
In it, when someone did not feel safe, they were told to “order Angela” at the restaurant or bar they went to. This way, employees are immediately notified that something is wrong. It also gives them time to call a taxi and help the person in need.
Similar to “Ask for Angela,” people in the United States used to call it the “angel shot.”
TikTok is sweeping the trend
The Angel shot trend has been made popular by TikTok user by the name of Benjamin Smith. He’s a bartender in Los Angeles and made the video to educate people on how to seek help. To date, the video has received millions of views.
According to his video, there are three ways you can order an angel shot:
- Sleek or straight: This indicates that the guest needs to be escorted to his car
- on the ice: This servant demands to help the person by calling a taxi for him
- With lime or twist: Staff are required to call the police
