Directed by John Lagon, They/Them is a horror film about a group of LGBTQ+ teens who arrive at a gay conversion camp where they attempt to deal with psychological horrors while surviving the pursuit of a mysterious killer.

It’s not the typical horror plot where character after character dies. Yes, the plot is based on the mysterious killer. However, the horror reflects that the LGBTQ+ experience is often more intimidating than any horror movie.

The original Peacock movie will be released on August 5, 2022. The film stars Kevin Bacon, Anna Chlimsky, Theo Germaine, Qui-Tan, Anna Lore, Cooper Koch, Austin Keeut, and Carrie Preston, among others.

Carrie Preston is the ultimate villain for them. Her role as a sinister camp counselor for homosexual conversation was an experience that changed the actress’s life. However, she didn’t expect you to be so concerned about playing such a villainous role.

In an exclusive interview with Page Six, the 55-year-old actress said, “Oh my God, I can’t say these things; I’m reasoned. These statements are abhorrent.”

However, Carrie focused on the impact her character would have. That is why it was so rewarding for her to play a different role than the one in her Hollywood curriculum.

She continued, “But then I thought, ‘Listen, that’s what the movie is about. It’s about the horrors of this thing this woman does. So the movie doesn’t really work if you don’t have it, so I was very happy to invest in it.”

Rarely imagine the role of a villain

Carrey’s most notable roles receiving critical acclaim are for the CBS drama series The Good Wife and The Good Fight for her role as the grotesque and lovable Elsbeth Tascioni.

During her years in the film industry, Carey played both “eccentric” and “beautiful”. However, the actress told news outlets, “We appreciate every opportunity to try something new to expand herself.”

Describing their/their movie in a sentence, she said it was an “empowering horror movie”.

The Good Wife star continued, “It uses the horror genre to highlight the real-life horrors of gay conversion, which unfortunately still continues in this country in horrific numbers. So it captures that but it’s also just a really fun movie.”
