Born Chastity Sun, Chaz Salvatore Bono is an American author, musician, and artist. He became famous as a kid on his parents’ TV show, The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour. His parents are comedians Sonny Bono and Cher. Bono is a transgender man.
In a cover article for a popular American gay monthly magazine called The Advocate in 1995, Bono officially admitted that he is a lesbian even though he still identifies as a woman and several years after it was published as such by the popular press. Later, in two books, Bono discusses the process of coming out into self and others. His upcoming story was included in Family Walk: A Guide to the Exit Process for Gays, Lesbians, and Their Families (1998).
