Speaking to The Athletic, Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani discussed Rafinha’s departure from the club and the interest the Brazilian has shown.
The left-footed player was one of the most sought-after players in Europe this summer. Barcelona eventually signed him last month, but before that he was strongly linked with Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham.
As always, it’s hard to know what to believe when it comes to transfer rumors, but for now, Radrizzani has scored to confirm that both Arsenal and Tottenham want the Brazilian.
What was said?
Radrizzani discussed the interest shown in Ravenha.
“We had interest from Arsenal, from Tottenham, Chelsea and from Barcelona. The best deal we agreed was with Chelsea. In the end, the deal that came with Barcelona was pretty much the same, the way we designed it in the end. But it took time. Lee, at the moment, we can’t be at that level. “It would be a mistake to put players in a cage when they have that talent,” Radrizzani said.
“Ravenha is a special player. Honestly, I think with a good World Cup he could become one of the top 20 players in the world. Why did they keep him in a cage?”
missed a star
Arsenal and Tottenham seem to have missed out on the future star here.
Ravenha may not have played for the elite team yet, but make no mistake about it, this is a player heading to the top.
As Radrizzani says, this is an outstanding footballer, and while he says Rafinha could be one of the top 20 players in the world, he is ambitious enough to be at that level in a couple of years.
The loss of the North London pair is Barcelona’s gain, and it looks like Ravenha is now ready to light up La Liga next season.
In other news, the coach indicates that Everton may now beat West Ham United over new Marouane Fellaini.
