Fabrizio Romano reported On Friday morning, Marseille are preparing to complete the signing of Tottenham, Everton and Newcastle targeting Jordan Veretot from Roma for £9m, plus £4m in add-ons.
The 29-year-old Frenchman is leaving Roma after three years at the club. Initially, the former Aston Villa player joined on loan in 2019, made 131 appearances for the Italians – signed permanently in the summer of 2020.
He became a little player under Mourinho last season. With the ex-Tottenham player brought in by Nemanja Matic, he decided to leave and return to his homeland. Marseille agreed a £13m deal.
It comes after reports earlier this summer suggested that Tottenham, Everton and Newcastle were all eyeing Vereout. A player who struggled with Villa in English football, but rose to prominence in Italy and France.
Romano reported that a deal is scheduled to be completed. Romano, using the famous phrase “Here We Go,” says that the medical examination will take place in the “next few hours.” He sees the Premier League trio losing.
Marseille sign Tottenham, Everton and Newcastle goal Veritot
While Veritut struggles in English football, these days he is a more well-rounded midfielder. He can score goals, but also sit in front of the defense and provide a blanket on the back of three or four.
Tottenham brought in Yves Bisoma, while Babi Matar Sarr returned from loan. Everton are looking to beat Amadou Onana and Idrissa Gana Joy. Newcastle has many options, including Bruno Guimaraes.
But Veritut could have been a good signing for any of the Premier League clubs. Sure, he would have started with Everton or Newcastle. But a move to Marseille would see him play in the Champions League. Good movement.
