The Fantastic Four #5 saw the character debut after being created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby (July 1962).

Doctor Doom, ruler of the fictitious state of Latveria, has been portrayed as a super-villain and anti-hero, but is often presented as the worst opponent of the Fantastic Four.

There, he supervised a group of monks, and, having learned of their deep thoughts, assigned them the task of making a set of iron armor and a mask that would permanently conceal his face from the public.
