Music often plays a major role in movies and TV series where using songs and the original score can help add the right feel to every scene.
This is particularly poignant in Netflix’s latest movie, Purple Hearts, which tells the story of a struggling singer-songwriter, which naturally means that a number of songs pop up throughout the movie.

Purple Hearts release date and plot preview
Purple Hearts arrives on Netflix on Friday, July 29, 2022.
The film tells the story of Cassie Salazar, a struggling singer-songwriter who is drowning in medical bills, and Luke Morrow, a troubled Marine, who couldn’t be different.
To help Cassie cope with her escalating financial problems, the couple agree to a marriage solely for military benefits.
However, the couple’s plan is turned upside down when tragedy strikes unexpectedly and the lines between fact and fiction begin to blur.
Music “Purple Hearts”
Purple Hearts features a large selection of songs on its soundtrack, featuring a selection of licensed songs from other artists as well as original tracks created specifically for the movie.
Sofia Carson songs are available to stream
In addition to several songs licensed throughout the film, lead actress Sophia Carson performs the bulk of the Purple Hearts soundtrack.
She did six songs throughout the film (eight if you count two bare copies) which are all played at key moments during the emotional film.
In addition to her work as an actress, Sophia is an accomplished singer and has performed songs in a number of films, released 14 singles, and in 2022, released her first studio album.
Concurrent with the film’s release, an entire album of Sophia Carson’s songs from Purple Hearts was released on music streaming sites including Spotify and Apple Music.
Purple Hearts is available to stream now on Netflix following its release on Friday, July 29, 2022.
