Lady Gaga confirms her role in Joker 2: Folie à Deux by sharing the trailer for the second part on social media.
In the short clip, we see Joaquin Phoenix’s Sihlouette, as well as Gaga herself before dancing with each other while weird music plays in the background.
Then we hear the iconic joker laugh as the nostalgic music continues.
The Joker 2 teaser, released on August 4, 2022, announces when the movie will be released in theaters.
What does Joker 2: Double Madness mean?
In the teaser trailer, we saw that the second installment is coming on October 4, 2024.
Folie à Deux is defined as an identical or similar mental disorder in which two or more people are affected. It is known that it runs in the family. It is also known as joint psychosis or delusional disorder (SDD). According to the National Library of Medicine, it is a rare clinical syndrome, most commonly seen in people who live closely with each other or in close relationships.
Folie à Deux also translates to madness for two or madness together.
Fans are speculating if Gaga will be Harley Quinn
On the YouTube teaser, fans are already wondering if Lady Gaga will play Harley Quinn in the movie. Or if the character is set to appear at all in the franchise.
Although Gaga is named in the movie now, there are no names or character roles yet. But online investigators have pointed out that Gaga has a red heart on her cheek – which Quinn does too, seeming to confirm that’s her role.
One viewer said, “If we saw Lady Gaga as ‘Harley Quinn,’ it would seem fitting for her to be with The Amazing Phoenix.”
The second added, “Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn? I didn’t see that coming.”
However, many fans are upset by reports that the sequel will be a musical. Sources told The Hollywood Reporter that Joker 2 is set to be a musical in June.
They have also been patiently waiting for the next installment after the 2019 film Warner Bros. grossed £1 billion three years ago.
The film became the fourth highest rated R film of all time after a massive theatrical run at the Box Office.
It received 11 Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, Best Score, and Best Actor for Phoenix.
