Wesley Fofana to Chelsea has become a serious possibility.
On Friday, 90 Minutes reported that the Leicester City defender had told his club he was desperate to move to Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea have reportedly already received two offers, which the Foxes have rejected.
However, Fabrizio Romano reported this morning that the Blues have now made a new £70m bid for the 21-year-old defender.
Here’s how Gary Neville on Twitter responded to Romano’s claim:
Wesley Fofana to Chelsea?
Manchester City have also been linked with Fofana, but the French powerhouse is eyeing Chelsea, it has to be said.
Well, provided Lester accepts the new and improved offer.
But honestly, they probably will.
All things being equal, they likely won’t get a better showing for Fofana this summer and with Saint-Etienne also having some big injuries in England already, they might prefer to cash in on the huge man.
West Londoners have already spent nearly £100m on defenders this summer in the form of Kalidou Koulibaly and Marc Cucurella.
But with Thiago Silva turning 38 next month, a long-term replacement makes sense, and if Chelsea can sign now, instead of next summer, why not?
