It will be recalled that in a meeting with some GNAT members, the General Secretary of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) was alleged to have said that Teachers in All Regions Have Received Their Laptops Except 1 Region and 2 Districts.
Many teachers are worried about when they will receive their purchased laptops, till now no proper update from the GES and teacher unions has been released on how far the distribution is ongoing across the country.
The 1 Teacher, 1 Laptop policy aim is to ensure all teachers in Ghana own laptops to enhance ICT literacy in schools.During a tour of the Volta and Oti Regions the General Secretary of GNAT, Thomas Musah, revealed that the distribution of laptops to teachers in Junior High Schools has begun nationwide and it would ensure all teachers receive their laptops as promised by the Government.
Mr. Musa revealed that;” teachers in all regions with the exception of Ashanti and 2 districts in the Oti Region have received their laptops.”He added; “We will do the necessary follow up and ensure the outstanding ones [laptops] are supplied”, he assured. The General Secretary of GNAT promised GNAT members to negotiate for befitting salaries, while implementing policies to enhance the livelihood of members.
But in a separate interview, the General Secretary, Mr. Thomas Musah, refuted the allegation that it is absolutely false.
“What I told the teachers during the national officers tour in the Volta Regional tour was that, all SHS teachers have received their laptops and anyone in SHS who has not received should let us know. All JHS teachers in the Country have received except Volta and Ashanti Regions are yet to be served. All those in JHS who have not received, will get it. Those in Primary and Kindergarten throughout the country are yet to be served. Finally, we assured all teachers that we will ensure they get their laptops. This statement was made in the presence of teachers in the Volta Region who are my witnesses and those who followed Facebook Live.
