The Los Angeles Times reported that American actress Anne Heshe is in critical condition after a near-fatal car accident.
The 53-year-old, best known for her role in the series Another World, was in the Mar Vista neighborhood of Los Angeles around 11 a.m. on Friday, August 5 when her car caught fire.
LAPD media officer Jeff Lee told CNN that the driver ran the car off the road and crashed into a house that was on fire, and the car caught fire.
Anne was taken to a local hospital with severe burns, and it reportedly took firefighters “more than an hour to reach, contain and completely extinguish the stubborn flames,” the department said.

Ann and Elaine have been dating for four years
Anne Heshe and Ellen DeGeneres dated for nearly four years from 1997 to 2000.
They met at a Vanity Fair Awards in 1997 and Ann once told Oprah, “I saw Eileen across a crowded room, I don’t know anything at all, except that I was just drawn to her.”
“Our souls are connected, and there comes a time when souls come together and are only meant to be… my soul is meant to be with my soul and that’s all that matters,” she also said on the Irish Goodbye podcast.
At the time, same-sex relationships were less common than they are now, so the actress made headlines when she invited Ellen as her date at the 1997 premiere of her movie Volcano.
In an interview with Dancing With The Stars, she revealed that she was told that she would lose her contract with Fox if she took Elaine as her date, but decided to do it anyway.
However, she “was directed by security even before the movie was over” and said, “I wasn’t allowed to go to the after-party for fear of getting a picture of me with a woman. It was incredible.”
“Our time was a beautiful part of my life and I wear it with honor. I was part of a revolution that brought about social change, and I couldn’t have done it without falling in love with it,” said the 53-year-old.
In a recent interview with Page Six, she added, “This wasn’t a long-term love affair. This was a moment in my life when I got the glory of being able to stand up for what I believed in since I was a kid.”
They split in 2000
The pair became one of the biggest LGBTQ+ couples in the ’90s, but unfortunately, things didn’t last and the relationship ended abruptly in 2000.
They’ve never revealed exactly why they broke up, but Ann hinted in an interview on Dancing With The Stars in 2020 that the relationship had taken a toll on her career.
“I was in a relationship with Ellen DeGeneres for three and a half years, and the stigma attached to that relationship was so bad that I got kicked out of this multi-million dollar photo deal,” she said.
The actress went on to reveal that she hasn’t “worked in a studio photo for 10 years” due to the romance.
They released a statement announcing the split, saying, “It is an amicable parting and we greatly appreciate the three and a half years we spent together.”
However, a year later, Eileen told The Los Angeles Times reported that the breakup was a surprise, saying, “I walked out the door and haven’t spoken to her since, I don’t have the answers.”
“I would like to have it myself. I would like to ask all the questions everyone wants to ask…. I’m left wondering what happened,” the TV host continued.
Eileen didn’t want her to “wear a sexy dress”
In 2021, Ann, who works on TikTok, made a video where she rates some of her “distinguished red carpet looks” and fans were surprised to hear what she had to say about Elaine.
It went through six of her past outfits and ranked them out of 10, but the dress she wore to the 1998 Golden Globes, which she attended with Elaine, caught everyone’s attention.
Anne wore a long navy velvet jacket that was very different from some of the previous, more revealing outfits she’s been wearing, and there’s a reason for that.
“Why do I look like a hippie?” She said. “That’s because Eileen didn’t want me to dress sexy.” The star then gave the look a rating of 0/10.
Now, Ellen is happily married to Portia de Rossi and Anne Heche is dating skincare expert Peter Thomas Roth.
