Arsenal striker Jamie Carragher criticized Gabriel Martinelli on Sky Sports Football (8:05pm, August 5, 2022) for his missed chance early against Crystal Palace.
Arsenal will play London rival Crystal Palace in the English Premier League this evening.
It is the first league game of the season and is being played at Selhurst Park at the moment.
Martinelli started the Arsenal match, and the 21-year-old Brazil international striker scored in the 20th minute.
However, the youngster could have given Arsenal the lead early in the game.
After just five minutes, Gabriel Jesus bypassed the palace defense and hit the ball that topped it.
The ball fell into the hands of Brazilian Jesus Martinelli, who was in a great position to score.
However, the Brazilian shot off the post.
Ex-Liverpool defender Carragher plays the role of the match commentator on Sky Sports and was disappointed by Martinelli’s efforts.

Carragher said on Sky Sports Football (8:05pm, August 5, 2022): “That’s poor, he really is from Martinelli. When the ball comes to him, you expect him to see the net. What a chance!”
While it was a disappointment, we have to give credit to Gabriel Martinelli for stepping up his game and eventually scoring for Arsenal in the first half.
Despite his initial miss, Martinelli continued to play his normal game, and his goal with Arsenal was well deserved.
The Brazilian is only 21 years old, and he will learn from his mistakes and mistakes.
