Speaking on NUFC Matters on YouTube, CBS journalist Ben Jacobs discussed Newcastle United and their interest in Jack Harrison.
Leeds United have been getting a lot of attention from Magpies in recent weeks, but it looks like the Englishman will stay on Elland Road.
Indeed, Jacobs says Leeds want huge cash for the winger, while the Yorkshire club owner has been adamant about not wanting to sell the former Manchester City player.
It would be a shame if Newcastle couldn’t defeat Harrison and, according to Jacobs, Eddie Howe really thinks the left-hander would be a perfect fit for the club.
What was said?
Jacobs has shared what he knows about Harrison, Howe and Newcastle’s chances of relegating the player.
“Newcastle even if they offered a high bid for Harrison, they may still see him pushed back because Leeds sold Phillips and Raven, and they lack a bit of depth,” Jacobs said.
“Newcastle’s interest in Harrison is quite real, but the price Leeds are looking for at the bottom is around £35m with extras on top and I wouldn’t be surprised if Leeds keep £40m, and I don’t think that is the price Newcastle would like. In his push. I think Harrison is a player that Howe really thinks would fit in at the football club, but agreeing to an offer and price with Leeds would be difficult.”
Harrison is a fantastic footballer, and Howe thinks he will be a big fit at Newcastle, but from our point of view it will be interesting to see him at St James’ Park.
Newcastle’s current left winger is Allan Saint-Maximin – a very maverick who loves to break in and take shots away, while Harrison is more than hardworking using his left foot to beat his back and cross. At the end of the crosses in his back post.
Harrison and Saint-Maximin are very different players, and if Howe thinks Harrison will be a huge fit, Newcastle will likely go in a different direction this season.
In other news, Neil Warnock has predicted that Newcastle fans will love him
