The words in question appear in the chorus of the song. she says:

“Playas, they will play
And haters, they’ll hate
Ballers, they will play ball
Shoot the callers, they will call
This has nothing to do
with me and you
this is how it is
that’s how it is”

Meanwhile, Taylor claimed she didn’t hear about the band or their song until the plaintiff brought the case in 2017.

Look at Shake it Off Lyrics

Although Taylor’s song has the lyrics in its chorus, it is sung in a different tone with a difference in the placement of the words.

The words say:

“Because the players will play and play and play and play
And haters will hate and hate and hate and hate
Baby, I’m just gonna shake, shake, shake, shake
Get rid of it, get rid of it
Hearts break, break, break, break
And fakes will make fakes, fakes, fakes, fakes
Baby, I’m just gonna shake, shake, shake, shake
I get rid of it, I get rid of it.”

Taylor Swift responds to the lawsuit

In her sworn declaration, Taylor claims that she never had to steal or copy the lyrics of the 3LW song because she was familiar with the popular phrase since her childhood.

“I remember hearing phrases about gamers playing and hate speech being said by other kids together while going to school in Wyoming Hills, and at high school in Hendersonville,” the singer wrote.

She also noted that she was wearing a T-shirt that read “haters will hate”. It was designed during a 2013 live show and was purchased from Urban Outfitters and has not been customized.

“I’ve been struck by messages that people who are inclined to do something will do it, and the best way to get over it is to just ignore it and go on living,” she added.
