He attended Niceville High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science in transdisciplinary sciences from Florida State University in 2003 and a Juris Doctor from William & Mary Law School in 2007.
On February 6, 2008, Gaetz was admitted to the Florida Bar. The Florida bar barred Gaetz from the practice of law in October 2021 as a result of unpaid dues.
