Beyoncé’s seventh studio album has finally arrived and fans are obsessed with 16 tracks.
The 40-year-old announced the new album just over a month ago on June 15 when she updated her Instagram bio to say three things, “act i”, “RENAISSANCE” and “7.29”.
Alien Superstar, Cuff It, and Church Girl are some of the fan favorite songs on the album that are supposed to make you feel “unique, powerful, and sexy.”
However, some fans are still confused by the name of the album. What does the word “Renaissance” actually mean? Read on to find out…
The meaning of the album name “Renaissance”
The word Renaissance refers to the period of European civilization that immediately followed the Middle Ages.
It happened from the 14th to the 16th centuries and is often associated with art and literature.
The Renaissance is a major era in history as it marks the transition from the Middle Ages to modernity as people began to live a more modern way of life.
It was a huge period of social change as people moved away from classical antiquity and medieval life and preferred a more modern approach.
The Renaissance began in Italy and spread rapidly throughout France, Britain, Spain, Portugal and Germany.
The era is associated with art
The Renaissance is often associated with art, and many of the world’s most famous artists grew up during this period.
Among them are Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Ravel, Sandro Bocelli, Donatello, Caravaggio and many others.
Some of the most famous paintings of the Renaissance are Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, The Last Supper, and Botticelli’s Birth of a Venus.
Michelangelo was also famous for painting the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel in Rome and erected the marble statue of David in the Accademia Gallery in Florence.
Renaissance means rebirth
The French word “Renaissance” is translated to mean “rebirth” as the society was essentially reborn in the 14th century during its modernization.
Beyoncé could indicate that this seventh album represented her rebirth, perhaps indicating that this album is completely different in style and reflects a new era of her career.
In August 2021, the star revealed that new music was coming and secretly revealed the album’s name, telling Harper’s Bazaar, “I’m feeling a rising renaissance, and I want to be a part of that escape.”
“With all the isolation and injustice over the past year, I think we are all ready to run, travel, love and laugh again,” she added.
The singer revealed that she has actually been in the studio for “a year and a half” and said that after 31 years, “I feel as excited as when I was nine.”

The Renaissance does not have any features and Beyonce She is the only one who sings on all tracks, but has worked with many different producers and composers.
