Arsenal ‘desperate’ to sell Nicolas Pepe amid interest from Leeds and Newcastle United
Arsenal are desperate to sell Nicolas Pepe and liquidate the Ivory Coast striker’s salary from their pay bill, according to Goal. Mikel Arteta has been willing to part with the winger since January, but has yet to receive a viable offer, amid interest from Leeds and Newcastle United.
Jesse Marsh and Eddie Howe are said to be exploring moves to take Baby to Island Road or St James’ Park. Diario de Sevilla credited the Whites with appreciating the 27-year-old last month. While Dean Jones claims the Magpies think it’s likely an achievable goal.
Leeds and Newcastle are keen to strengthen their attack as they seek to break into the top half of the Premier League table. Marsh led West Yorkshire’s survival team after replacing Marcelo Bielsa, while Howe Tun took 11th place after replacing Steve Bruce.
Arteta does not envision Pepe playing a major role at Arsenal in the new season, so he is ready for Arsenal to sell the striker. It never quite lived up to the £72m Unai Emery paid LOSC Lille in 2019, having agreed to pay £20m initially and the rest over five years.

Pepe has so far won 112 appearances in all competitions since his arrival in North London. However, the 34-game international scored only 27 goals and 21 assists, while starting in 67 matches. Among his efforts, he scored 16 goals and nine assists in 80 league matches.
So, with Pepe tied to a £140,000-week deal until 2024, Arteta is ‘desperate’ at Arsenal to sell the 2020 FA Cup winner this summer, with Newcastle and Leeds interested. But no party has yet approached Arsenal with an acceptable proposal so far.
