Nashville broadcaster Mark Howard’s death at 65 leaves fans heartbroken

Nashville anchor Mark Howard has died at the age of 65 in his home, according to NewsChannel5. He was also popular among his listeners for co-hosting Wake Up Zone on radio station 104.5.

Besides his well-established and impeccable skills, Mark is remembered for his unique sense of humor and extensive knowledge of the sport that has captured the attention of the public for years.

His wife and children survived. Mark’s colleagues and fans have taken to Twitter to express their appreciation.

Mark Howard dies

The broadcaster reportedly took his last breath on Sunday, July 23. The cause of his death was not revealed.

According to NewsChannel5, “He was found unresponsive at his home Sunday morning.”

During his career as an announcer, Mark has been able to cover some of the sport’s greatest moments, including the Braves and Twins battle at the 1991 World Championships and the Tennessee Lady Falls National Championships in the late 1990s.

He was said to have even worked with Nashville Predators as host of pre-game and post-game shows.

104.5 announced on Twitter today that the channel will honor Mark all day on July 25, by sharing his stories and allowing listeners to share their favorite moments with the popular broadcaster.

As for his personal life, the late broadcaster was involved with his wife Debra.

A look at his career

Mark’s career has been impressive on television and radio.

He joined NewsChannel5 in 1986 as a weekend sports broadcaster, a position he held for twenty years.

After leaving the news network, he joined 104.5, to be the host of the wake-up area. It is believed that he worked with the radio station for about 16 years.

Mark co-hosted the show with Kevin Ingram and former Tennessee Titan Frank Wickick.

However, Mark and Kevin were excluded from their show in 2020 when the radio station tweaked its schedule to shorter hours.

People are sad to know that Mark’s singing will never raise their ears again because he sadly passed away.

NC5 host Leylan Statum shared a photo with Mark and wrote in tweet“I am very sad to hear of the death of the former #NC5 Sports broadcaster, Mark Howard. He had extensive knowledge of sports and a great writing style. This was the evening team weekend in 1993 when I started with Mark and Lydia Lineker. A prayer for his family, especially his son Jack. RIP Mark. “
