Speaking to SportBible, Neil Warnock was discussing Aaron Ramsdale.
The former Middlesbrough boss was tasked with picking his version of the England squad for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and, somewhat unsurprisingly, Ramsdale made the boot.
As a Sheffield United fan, Warnock would know Ramsdale well, and he was full of Arsenal goalkeeper.
In fact, the record-breaking manager says the goalkeeper proved all his doubters wrong after joining Arsenal, noting that he did an excellent job with Arsenal.
What was said?
Warnock talked about the goalkeeper.
“To be fair to him, everyone thought it would be a disaster when he left Sheffield United but he did an excellent job at Arsenal. He said Warnock.
Great season debut
Warnock was absolutely right about Ramsdale, he’s had an exceptional debut season, and now, he’s got to keep it up.
The England international had a shaky end to last season, while his performances for the Three Lions over the summer were also largely unconvincing.
A clean sheet against Crystal Palace on Friday obscured a performance that contained a few dribbling moments in possession, but Ramsdale’s quality between the sticks has been there for all to see over the past 12 months.
As Warnock says, everyone thought Ramsdale would mess up at Arsenal after relegating twice with Bournemouth and Sheffield United, but he mocked those expectations last season, proving he is an elite goalkeeper at this level.
The great first season that Ramsdale featured saw us get rid of most of the skeptics, but now, he has to build on that platform.
