Sky Sports claim Nottingham Forest has seen a club-record £35m bid for Wolverhampton midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White rejected – as Steve Cooper continues to cash out after the club’s promotion to the Premier League.

Gibbs White, 22, was on fire with Sheffield United last season during a loan spell. England’s Under-21 team played a role in 22 midfield goals as he helped the Blades reach the tournament qualifiers, but lost to Forrest.

Reports indicate that Wolves have already turned down two offers for Gibbs-White. He has returned to Molyneux this summer and is expected to be in the starting line-up when Wolves face Leeds at Island Road on Saturday.

But movement is still very possible. Everton are interested, but it appears Nottingham Forest want to keep their spending going, having already brought in 12 new players – spending in the region of around £85m.

Speaking on Sky Sports News’ transfer programme, reporter Mark McAdam said Forrest had made a massive £35m bid for White’s cast. However, this offer is turned down by Wolves, who are keen to keep him.

“This is a story that has developed in the last few moments. Their pursuit of Gibbs-White resulted in a third bid being rejected by the Wolves. We understand the total package deal is £35m.”

“It has been reduced by £25m, and £10m in potential additions. Forrest continues his talks with Wolves for Gibbs White. But it is not expected at the moment if they enter for the fourth time.”

Forrest rejected Gibbs White’s £35m bid

It’s a fantastic display for a player who hasn’t done so regularly in the Premier League. It can be said that he only has one good season, in the championship with the Blades. Although it was a great season.

There is no doubt that Gibbs White is good enough for the Premier League. But he needs to play regularly in the first division. He will score goals, he will make them. But it’s too risky for the side that’s newly upgraded to spending this big.
