Police have arrested rapper Mystical in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where he is currently in prison without bail.
The rapper is accused of multiple crimes. These include rape in the first degree, domestic violence beatings – strangulation, false imprisonment, petty criminal damage to property and petty theft.
Police said Michael Tyler, a 51-year-old hip-hop legend, was booked into Ascension Parish Jail on Sunday night. This comes after the local police spoke to an unknown person who claimed they were a victim of sexual assault. According to the Ascension Parish Mayor’s Office, no bail has been set at this time.
The case is under investigation and there are no further details at the time of publication.

In 2004, just four years after Mystical became famous with the Grammy-nominated song “Shake Ya A**,” the rapper was sentenced to six years in prison. He pleaded guilty to sexual assault and extortion, The Guardian writes.
According to reports at the time, Mystical forced his hairdresser to perform sexual acts. This was after she was accused of stealing $80,000 worth of his checks. The hairdresser denied stealing the money.
He was released from prison in 2010 and registered as a sex offender in Louisiana.
Then, in 2012, Mystical was jailed for three months for violating the terms of his probation period. He was arrested for a domestic misdemeanor against his partner and mother of his two children. His lawyer described it at the time as an “unfortunate incident” between two partners who “have cared for each other for 10 years”.
Mystikal previously spent 18 months in prison before the charges were dropped
In August 2017, Mystical was arrested on charges of first-degree rape and second-degree kidnapping. He was held on a $3 million bond. He was accused of sexually assaulting a woman in a Shreveport casino.
The rapper spent 18 months in Cadeau Correctional Center until 2019. However, as a result of insufficient evidence, the charges against the rapper were later dropped.
The rapper’s last studio album was Tarantula, which was released in 2001.
