The new Rust August 2022 update is approaching and will go live on the same day as the game’s next routine server scan.
And while the drop in content in the last month has been a bit insignificant in terms of big-ticket items, it looks like the August release will have more noteworthy additions.
Everyone preparing for the big reset may also want to book a tour of the Train Yard Monument, which could affect the game’s experience over the coming weeks.
It’s still unclear how many new features and map changes will be ready later this week, but a lot of things are being tested at the moment.

When is August Rust Forced Server Wipe?
The Rust server scan date and time is set for Thursday, August 4, 2022, at 2 PM EST / 6 PM CEST / 7 PM GMT.
A server crash is expected before the monthly event, and while we don’t know if the August update will be released before or after that, players may be able to access some interesting new loot opportunities.
The Train Yard is undergoing some significant modificationsFans will soon be able to grab loot from various gigs when the full system is online. The Train Yard is also connected to the rest of the rail network, which would be very handy with just a few locomotives to spawn.
A new Coaling Tower will be available to use to reveal additional loot chests, although Facepunch cautioned that much of what is planned in the coming weeks is still subject to change.
Monuments are also getting new lighting options along with some rail cars coming into the game. Some things may be missing from the final Rust August 2022 update that will be published this week, so it will be worth checking out the patch notes when they are shared on August 4.
Other things that are being worked on but won’t be available in this month’s patch is the new hardcore mode, which will strip a lot of features from the core game to provide a more challenging environment to survive. This will be its own mode, so you don’t have to worry about safe zones being removed, along with other things like curvature options and a team system.
