Stranger Things star Joseph Quinn got his character Eddie Monson dreaming up as he was invited for a jamming session with Metallica – and apparently it was pretty annoying.
The 29-year-old actor became a crowd favorite when he joined the cast of Netflix for season four as the lovable outsider had to escape when he was accused of killing co-star Chrissy.
Although the city turns on Eddie, he saves the situation by delivering a legendary performance of Metallica’s hit Master of Puppets at The Upside Down before heroically sacrificing himself to save everyone.
Back in the real world, Joseph had to do something that would blow Eddie’s mind – jam the metal icons.
Joseph jam session
In a video posted to the official Netflix account on Instagram, Joseph explains that he was invited backstage at the Lollapalooza Music Festival in Chicago to meet the band.
He talks to James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett, and Robert Trujillo about the show and thanks them for letting them use the song — and thanks them in exchange for “doing justice” for it.
Eddie will be very happy!
Joseph told the Four Piece that the song was all he listened to for two years, telling them, “I feel so connected to you guys.”
When they ask if he wants to play, he jokes that he’s “a bit rusty” and might need a lesson, but it’s clear from the moment he picks up the guitar that he knows exactly what he’s doing.
The band declares Joseph an “employee” and that they are “now a five-piece” before they present him with a guitar just like the one he used on the show and sign him.
what a day!
famous scene
The scene in which Eddie plays the Master of Puppets has already gone down in history and is one of the most iconic moments of Netflix’s success.
Eddie rocks the song in the movie Upside Down in an effort to help the gang defeat the villain Vecna and save their town.
Fans absolutely loved it, and rock legends were equally impressed.
They shared the scene on Instagram after it fell on Netflix and complimented Joseph.
They wrote: “The way The Duffer Brothers incorporated music into Stranger Things has always been next level, so we were very excited for them to not only include ‘Master of Puppets’ in the show, but have such a pivotal scene built around it – she We were all amazed to see the end result, and when we did, we were absolutely stunned… It was done so well, that some people were able to guess the song just by seeing a few seconds of Joseph Quinn’s hands in a tractor!! this?
“It’s an incredible honor to be such a part of Eddie’s journey and to once again be with all the other great artists on the show.”
