Tim Sherwood on Sky Sports News (12:36pm, August 6, 2022) said Oleksandr Zinchenko was “brilliant” for Mikel Arteta’s team against Crystal Palace in the London derby.
The former Tottenham Hotspur manager was impressed by Zinchenko’s performance for Arsenal in their win over Palace away at Selhurst Park in the Premier League on Friday night.
The 25-year-old moved to Arsenal from Manchester City in the summer transfer window.
The Ukraine international started at left-back against the Eagles, but often drifted into midfield with fellow Arsenal Granit Xhaka playing at the back when he did.
Arsenal beat Palace 2-0 in the London derby.
Tim Sherwood praises Arsenal’s Oleksandr Zinchenko
“It was great last night, Zinchenko. The ball is his friend,” Sherwood said on Sky Sports News (12:36 noon, August 6, 2022).
“Zinchenko was really great on the ball in the first half,” former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher told Sky Sports News (10:07pm, August 5, 2022).
In our opinion, Oleksandr Zinchenko played well for Arsenal in his Premier League debut with the Gunners and made an immediate impact.
The 25-year-old won several Premier League titles with Manchester City, and his ability on the ball and desire to push the team forward against Palace showed his best qualities last night.
The Ukrainian also participated in Arsenal’s opening goal in the Premier League match.
Zinchenko’s ability to play at left-back and in midfield is an advantage for Arsenal, and his importance in the team will only increase as the season progresses.
