T Smith, born March 24, 2000, is a Canadian professional ice hockey player in the Pittsburgh Penguins (NHL) National Hockey League. The New Jersey Devils selected him in the first round, 17th overall, in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft.
Smith was the first overall pick in the 2015 WHL Bantam Draft by the Spokane Chiefs. Smith was awarded Chiefs’ Rookie of the Year and Scholastic Player of the Year during the junior season. Smith had a breakthrough season the following year, setting a new franchise record for most points in a single game by a defensive man and receiving the WHL Scholastic Player of the Year award. Smith was also named Defensive Player of the Year.
