Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin has now agreed a tentative contract with Real Betis, as talks between Arsenal and Ferdeblancos continue amid interest from across Europe.
Hector Bellerin only interested in Real Betis as Arsenal exit talks continue
Arsenal have agreed that Hector Bellerin is only interested in a move to Real Betis this summer. That’s according to Estadio Deportivo, who claims the Emirates Stadium hierarchy has now admitted he will not be able to secure his full €10m (£8.5m) valuation.
Gunners submitted bids to Bellerin from all over Europe in the hope of obtaining a solid price for him. But the right-back missed opportunities to return to La Liga at Atletico Madrid or Villarreal, or a possible move to the Italian league in Rome, Inter Milan or Juventus.
Bellerin is now in the final year of his contract with Arsenal after returning to North London in the summer. He spent last season on loan to Real Betis, where his new form convinced Arsenal chiefs that they would be able to command a big number for his permanent transfer.
But the Spaniard is only interested in joining Manuel Pellegrini’s club if he is to move out in the last month of the market. Bellerin has also already agreed personal terms in principle to a four-year contract at Estadio Benito Villamarin, too, before any potential return.
Bellerin is ready to wait for a move to Real Betis while Sevilla negotiate Arsenal. His clients have also met with Arsenal several times to explain his decision to return to the side of Pellegrini, who is willing to sacrifice half his salary in order to join.
It can now be said that Hector Bellerin is the fourth choice in Mikel Arteta’s plans
Real Betis could sign Bellerin within days if Arsenal accept their interest as the only viable deal. He has no realistic future in the Emirates under Mikel Arteta, who slashed £110,000 per week from Dynamo from the match-day squad that beat Crystal Palace on Friday 2-0.
Ben White started at full-back, in place of the great defender Gunners Loren who was once dubbed the “world class”. Cedric Soares, another natural right-back, was off the bench at Selhurst Park, with first-choice Takehiro Tomiyasu still currently recovering from a hamstring problem.
