Field officers for 2021 PHC call on GSS to increase amount to be paid to them.

Population and Housing Census (PHC) officers across the country have called on the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) to increase the amount set to be paid to them after the census.

According to the field officers, after thoroughly reading the contract form, it had been noticed that GSS is engaging the said officers for 33 days instead of the said 21days. Meanwhile, payment is based on 21-day duties performed by these officers.

Some Enumerators were however assigned bigger Enumeration Areas (EAs).

“Some of us our EA are big and in my EA, for example, I listed 266 structures with more to be listed so far with 386 questionnaires I requested for secondary enumerator they said am not entitled to one”, a field officer lamented.

Also, some field officers for the 2021 Population and Housing Census are agitating whether to submit the data after collection or not because they are demanding a raise in payment.

“Please some of us in greater Accra are agitating for increment in our pay our the enumeration process will be put to a stop. We want a nation wide support on this and please to those who did submit their contract form yet I advise that you should not submit it. The work is full of challenges so we have to call for the change by not doing the enumeration please let’s wise up”

Additionally, these officers have blamed the GSS for the challenges being faced by them. According to them, this national assignment was not adequately planned as you can realize that there are inconsistencies in the payment of monies due them.

Currently, some haven’t even received their training allowance not to talk about listing allowance.
