The prospect of venturing into the wild and living without technology is increasingly attractive in today’s device-driven world — as long as it’s on our own terms.
But being forced to fight to survive in an unknown location after a near-fatal plane crash is an entirely different ball game and happens to be the premise of Netflix’s newest drama series, Keep Breathing.
The series tells the story of Liv, a high-flying New York attorney whose life is left hanging in the balance after stranded in the Canadian wilderness.
Of course, since every decision could mean the difference between life and death, viewers wereted no time wondering whether or not Liv would die by the end of the “Keep Breathing” show.

Keep breath release date and plot preview
Keep Breath flew its way to Netflix on Thursday, July 28, 2022.
Starring Melissa Barrera, the six-episode series tells the story of Liv, a quick-witted New York lawyer with sharp courtroom wit.
During a hastily planned trip to the remote town of Inuvik in Canada’s Northwest Territories, Lev’s plane crashes in the middle of unforgiving wilderness.
As personal demons haunt her from her past and death is around every corner, Liv must use every ounce of her being to preserve her life.
Does Liv die breathing?
No, Liv is not dying by the end of “Keep Breathing” but her fight for survival is only a first-hand experience.
Left stuck in the middle of nowhere and with no hope of rescue, Liv uses the basic survival skills she learned as a child while in Scouting.
But with no food and little shelter on offer, she must dig deep to stave off hunger, thirst and hypothermia—not to mention the possibility of her being killed and eaten by a wild animal.
By the time we get to Episode 6, Liv is in a bad shape. After falling off a cliff, she broke her leg and left her bag with the few resources she had in a cave, leaving her only a stick to use as a temporary crutch.
Liv thinks she’s finally saved when she hears a gurgle nearby, thinking the sound is cars on the road. However, what Leaf heard were actually the rapids of a raging river.
With no way to cross, Liv almost gives up any hope of surviving until some words of stimulus come from her father’s hallucination.
In a last-ditch attempt to reach safety, Liv slips into a torrent of water, using a stump to keep her afloat, and allowing the river to carry her away.
Liv is nearly killed while being carried downstream, but she is finally discovered by two fishermen who manage to revive her.
In the final shot of the series, you see Liv come to life as she stays true to the one tip that’s been there throughout the show, “Keep breathing.”
Keep explaining the hallucination of breathing
While Liv’s battle to survive in the Canadian wilderness is tough enough on her own, she’s also had to deal with hallucinations and visions from both her past and possible future.
The biggest demon that Liv carries with her is the fact that her mother abandoned her years earlier, regularly tormented by her mother’s memories throughout the series.
Liv thinks she is the reason her mother left and holds a stack of postcards from her mother during her entire ordeal.
However, in the moments before she enters the river, Liv speaks with a vision of her father who reassured her that it was not the reason for her mother’s departure and that the same would not necessarily happen again if she would open herself up to her love interest from home, Danny.
As Liv nearly dies on her journey down the river, she experiences visions of a possible future with Danny – showing them to start a family together – and the hope of making these visions real seems to be enough to keep Liv alive long enough to be saved, while also dropping cards. Postage from her mother as she drifts off to her, showing that she’s ready to move on from the traumas of her past.
Keep Breathing is now available to stream on Netflix following its launch on Thursday, July 28, 2022.
