Justin Pierre James Trudeau is a Canadian politician who has been the Leader of the Liberal Party since 2013 and has served as the 23rd Canadian Prime Minister and current President since 2015. Trudeau, the eldest son of Pierre Trudeau, is the second youngest Prime Minister in Canadian history after Joe Clark. He is also the first to be a child or relative of a former Prime Minister.
The Cannabis Act, which he signed into law during his first term as prime minister, legalized marijuana for recreational use. He also attempted to reform Senate appointments by creating the Independent Senate Appointments Advisory Board and implementing a federal carbon tax. On foreign policy, the Trudeau administration signed the Paris Climate Change Agreement and negotiated trade agreements including the United States, Mexico and Canada Agreement (USMCA) and the Comprehensive and Advanced Agreement for the Trans-Pacific Partnership.
