A new update for Mario Kart 8 has been released, with the latest Booster Course tracks and a number of other changes to the game.

And even if you don’t plan to expand your list of courses with the latest DLC offering, you’ll still need to download the latest version of the game.

Here’s what we know is included in this week’s Mario Kart 8 update, only the second update released in 2022.

What’s in the new Mario Kart 8 Deluxe update?

Nintendo Switch fans downloading the new Mario Kart 8 update want to know exactly what has changed in the game today. The good news is that a list of patch notes has been shared by the development team behind the hit racing game, confirming all the major mods.

The most important part of the new update and the primary focus is the release of new DLC tracks. Wave 2 of the new Booster Course Pack is now available and available to anyone who wants to spend the extra money unlocking new tracks for the game.

Eight new courses can be played starting today, spread over two new cups, with more tracks planned in the future. For a complete look at everything in today’s Mario Kart 8 update, you can find the official Nintendo Switch patch notes listed below:

DLC support

  • Now supports paid DLC: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Booster Course Pass, Wave 2 (two cups and eight courses).

  • The number of ghosts you can download has been increased from 16 to 32.
  • Adjusting the vehicle’s throw range according to its weight.
  • The time it takes for item boxes to regenerate after being taken by another player has been shortened.
  • Shorten the time it takes for one player to pick up a coin dropped by another player.
  • It is designed so that it is easier to face the road ahead in mid-air when using Intelligent Steering.
  • The cars that Shy Guys ride in at Wii Coconut Mall now move from time to time in all modes other than Time Trial mode.

fixed issues

  • Fixed an issue where a player could not choose a DLC course even though a player in the lobby in “Friends” had a Booster Course Pass.
  • Fixed an issue where the player did not receive coins even though they used the shuttlecock in Coin Runners to steal the opponent’s coins.
  • Fixed an issue where a player could receive two items from a single item box in N64 Toad’s Turnpike.
