Speaking to Asian Net News, Kiranraj said, “According to what I’ve heard, breeders have been inundated with inquiries about baby Labrador’s as a result of the success of the 777 Charlie. Knowing this hurts me because the movie wasn’t meant to be that way.”

“The Labrador breed in the movie was chosen for a very good purpose, and that reason was to highlight more serious problems with inbreeding. The primary takeaway from the movie 777 Charlie is “adopt-don’t shop,” which the protagonist explicitly states in an instant. The climax of the movie is when he starts setting up an animal rescue center.” — Kiranraj K, via Asian News Net.

The director will then add how “instead of focusing on Charlie’s bloodline and ‘buying’ the same thing, I want others to understand this message. The viewer should understand the unwavering passion and relationship between people and animals.”

The director concluded by noting that a portion of the revenue generated went to a local anime NGO and that they worked closely with shelters across Bangalore and Hbal.
