OUTCOME OF THE MEETING WITH NTC

The leadership of the Coalition of Unsaturated NTC Candidates today met with the registrar and other two officials of the National Teaching Council.

This meeting is a response to the petition the Unsatisfied candidates served the Council on the 5th of August,2021. The candidates called on NTC to permit them verify their failed marked scripts for clarification.

Spokesperson for coalition and the coalition organizer met with the registrar Dr. Christian Addai Poku and two other officials from NTC to deliberate on the request of the petition.

The spokesperson gave reasons why the coalition is in quest to verify their results .

The registrar, Dr Christian Addai make available to scripts of the Coalition leaders without availing the marking scheme to them to cross check. He then stated that, further verification can only be done through application for remarking .

The spokesperson of the coalition tried to dialogue constructively with the registrar to permit affected candidates to verify before applying for remarking yield no positive result but rather, the register reiterated that any unsatisfied candidate can apply for remarking at a cost of six hundred Ghana cedis.

The Registrar informed the leadership that, strict measures were deployed before and during the examination victimized many unprepared candidates.

He register explained extensively that, re-sitters have just one recognized ID which is maintained and recognized by NTC not the Examination Centers.

Dr, Addai states emphatically that, misinterpretation of figures and the focus of the media of only failed candidates compelled them not to release any statistics on the results. He referenced past experiences.

The leadership made an earnest request that the portal should be open as early as possible so that candidates can register and rewrite before GES opens for recruitment. They also appeal to officials of NTC to look at the evaluation method again and consider subject fields .

The registrar assured that, the portal will be opened as early as possible so that candidates can register and write hopefully in the month of September. He also revealed that there will be a review of the system to consider subject fields in future.

The registrar spoke passionately to the leaders that it is never the wish of any NTC official for licensure candidates to fail in any of the examinations because one main aim of GES is to furnish every school in Ghana with quality teachers and it is mandate to supply GES with the qualified teachers.

He assured the leadership that, he is always ready to listen to any troubled candidate because we are his candidates.

The leadership of the Coalition assures all newly trained teachers who are victims to keep them updated on any new development from NTC
