It’s funny to look back on the early days of Better Call Saul. The Breaking Bad episodic and previous installments had some big laughs, magic, and hilarious plots.
Fast forward to the final episodes of Season 6 and the laughs will be long gone. There’s nothing magical about Jane, the alias of Shaul Goodman – or rather Jimmy McGill – and the schemes are enough to make you shake your head in personal disappointment from the viewpoint of your couch.
Watching episode 12 of Season 6, it’s as if you’re mourning the total and utter downfall of a close friend or family member.
The walls are getting closer to the protagonist like never before, and the episode titled Waterworks has given us a host of questions to ponder as the final inches approach. One is about Jane’s unlikely partner…why did Jeff crash into Peter Cole Soul?

Too far
First, let’s set up the scene.
Episode 11 details Jane hatches a series of schemes that include breaking into homes and gaining access to personal and financial information to steal unsuspecting people he met in a bar.
However, an accomplice refuses to target a single potential victim because he has cancer. Jeff is reluctant to take on the task as well, but Gene insists on doing so and chooses to break into the house himself while Jeff waits in the car and watches.
At Waterworks, we find Gene getting too old for his shoes, taking the hours and pouring himself a drink. However, the victim wakes up and Jane is ready to hit him on the head to escape. Fortunately, the intended victim falls asleep again and Jane is able to go down the stairs without resorting to violence.
On the other hand, the wrench in the plan is the cop’s car parked behind Jeff outside the house. The officers are only there to eat some food and suspect nothing, but it is enough to keep Jane inside the house waiting patiently. So why did Jeff crash into Better Call Saul?

Why did Jeff crash into Peter Cole Saul?
Jeff crashed the car because he became paranoid about the presence of the cops and tried to quickly escape from the scene.
Overwhelmed by his paranoia and nerves, he was unable to drive properly and eventually crashed into the back of a parked car despite having a clear and easy way out of the situation.
Of course, there was always a chance that Jeff might have crashed on purpose. His collision with the car would inevitably drive the cops out of the house and leave Gene on the run undetected. After all, the consequences of hitting a parked car while it’s supposed to be sober wouldn’t be as bad as getting caught doing a serious break-in and theft.
However, this is Jeff we’re talking about. He is clumsy and selfish, and the collision was the result of a severe ordeal. He just wanted to escape from the house and avoid getting involved in any crime in case Jane gets caught.
This goes back to the previous episode, as Mike cautioned about the buffs. Not following this advice comes back to haunt Jimmy as it is suggested that Jeff defeat Jane’s true identity and everything he knows to save his own skin.
How many episodes are left?
Better Call Saul Season 6 consists of 13 episodes so there is only the final ending left.
The eagerly anticipated installment has already been named Saul Gone and will premiere on AMC on Monday, August 15, 2022, and on Netflix the next day in other regions.
