Will there be a third beta for Overwatch 2?
Blizzard has confirmed that there will be no third beta version of Overwatch 2 hosted on public servers in 2022.
While the first two made it possible to experience the PvP side of the game, there are no plans to replicate this on the PC, Xbox or PlayStation platforms.
The news was shared earlier this week by John Spector, Overwatch Commercial Leader & VP at Blizzardwho confirmed that a third beta test of Overwatch 2 is not planned, at least for the general public.
The game is still being regularly tested in the lead-up to launch, but no more data will need to be collected before the big launch in October. The full message that Spector shared on Twitter reads:
“Today marks only two months since Overwatch 2 launches! We know players are eager to get involved and have seen questions about the possibility of a third public beta. While we will continue to test OW2 daily internally, we are not planning any additional public beta testing.
“With all the valuable feedback we’ve received from alpha testing and two public beta tests, we will focus our efforts on releasing the best game possible on October 4th.”
While a third beta release of Overwatch 2 is not planned, players will still be able to play through a new event in the current game this summer. Overwatch Anniversary Remix Vol 3 is expected to launch later this month, featuring returning cosmetics and some remixed designs. Access to all regular Summer Games content will also be included, although no specific release date has been shared yet.
