GES to distribute 70,000 BIC pens to 2021 BECE candidates nationwide

The Ghana Education Service (GES) is set to distribute a total of 70,000 BIC pens to final year JHS students preparing to sit for the 31st edition of the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) scheduled for November 15, 2021.

The crystal pens donated by BIC, a world leader in stationery, the Management of the Education Service in a post sighted by EducationWeb.com.gh said will be distributed to basic schools in deprived Districts in the country.

Mr George Nkonsah, the Business Development Manager for the Ghana-Cameroon cluster at BIC in a brief address on Tuesday said the donation forms part of his outfit’s effort to support the education field in the country.

“At BIC, we are committed to improving lives through education, and this is one of the many initiatives that we are proud of and wish to continue to build on in the region,” the BIC Development Manager told the Service today.

Expressing his appreciation on behalf of the GES Management, Prof. Kwasi Opoku Amankwa, Director-General of GES said his outfit was very grateful to BIC for the donation and its commitment to support the education sector in Ghana.

“It is refreshing to work with brands that value the importance of education and work to improve communities they operate in. We look forward to further build on this partnership through impactful initiatives in the future,” he added.

The 2021 edition of the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) to be administered by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) will commence on Monday, November 15, 2021, to Friday, November 19, 2021.

According to the 2021 BECE for School timetable, candidates on Monday start the national examination with Social Studies and French Paper 1&2 and end it on Friday with Information Communication & Technology Paper 1&2.

The non-profit-making organization (WAEC) is yet to communicate the total number of final year Junior High School (JHS) students to participate in the forthcoming basic certificate examination to members of the general public

Students who become successful at the BECE for School Candidates will get the opportunity to further their education for free at the secondary level due to the Akufo-Addo government Free Senior High School (Free SHS) programme
