Calls for Suspension of Teachers Portfolio Intensifies as Aggrieved Teachers Express Dissatisfaction

The newly trained teachers from the 46 Colleges of Education across the country are calling for the immediate suspension of plans by Officials from the National Teaching Council to visit all schools to inspect and appraise them on their teaching experience.

The issue of Teachers portfolio started since last year where NTC wanted to start the roll out of the policy for the 2019 batch of teachers from the Colleges of Education but it ended on a rock.

Someone will think NTC has gone back to do a proper homework only to realize that the said portfolio was to be rolled this year starting with 2020 batch of teachers from the Colleges of Education.

Many aggrieved teachers across the country have expressed their dissatisfaction about the implementation of the whole process.

Many are of the view that NTC could have used a different approach in order to implement the policy as it has been implemented in a slapdash manner without thinking about the interest and the problems that the “ordinary” teachers are going through.

National Teaching Council could have organized a physical district/municipal training workshop for all the National Service Service who have various degrees of difficulty with regards to access to internet and even information.

The aggrieved teachers are calling on the management of National Teaching Council to withdraw the policy now and review to meet the interest of the teacher.
